What is Zip Formating?
The Zip file format is a format for data compression and information archiving. The ZIP file format permits a number of compression algorithms and every file is compressed separately. By compressing files separately it allows for individual files to be retrieved without reading through other data. ZIP files generally use the file extentions ".zip" or ".ZIP" and the MIME media type application. Recent advances in technology have led to better compression and encryption methods, which are a big imporvement to the original Zip file format that had many limitations.
